Description: overall body color is blue-gray, the abdomen is slightly pink-yellow. On fins and body scattered dark spots of irregular shape. Body length, males 4-6 cm, females – up to 7 cm On the upper lip there are two pairs of antennae. Males are slimmer than females; dorsal fin they have a sharp triangular shape, and females have rounded. There is a albino form of the speckled catfish with red eyes and bright coloring without spots.
Behavior: peaceful fish; it is advisable to keep them with large, predatory fish that are not averse to eat smaller neighbours. The marbled catfish is a schooling fish, the optimal number is 6-8 individuals. In extreme cases, the catfish must be kept at least in pairs, not singly. Most of the time the speckled catfish on the bottom, surfacing periodically to the surface for air. In search of food, dig in the ground and can muddy the waters, but on the bottom not accumulate remnants of food.
Contents: spotted catfish is one of the most undemanding aquarium fish. Due to intestinal breathing they can live in a muddy swamp.
